Web Design

Web Design

Designing is our favorite and most important (to us anyway) aspect of creating the web. Nobody is going to go to a website and say, "Hey, that data architecture is fantastic!" See, that would only happen with the people who actually create data architecture for a living (those people run the world). When most people look at websites, they notice the design first and foremost. This is they key factor in whether your site will deliver or not. Within a few seconds of visiting your site, visitors will decide to move on or continue to browse your site. We want the latter. This is why we view design as the most important aspect on the web.

As times change, web design changes also. I'm sure most have realized that designs have changed since the beginning of the web...and that's a good thing. Everybody needs a change here and there. The same goes for people who have or need websites. Whether you are in need of a brand spanking new website or in need of an up-to-date redesign, we would love to handle those requests.

Web Design Process

The process for web design and implementation is a step-by-step procedure. Once the quote we send to you has been finalized, we move on to develop the project.

  • Step One: Wireframes of your new site are built so we know exactly where everything will go on your site.
  • Step Two: A design is made based off of the wireframes.
  • Step Three: If needed, modifications to the site design are made per your specifications.
  • Step Four: Once the design has been approved, it is time to cut and markup the design into a web format.
  • Step Five: The working website template now needs personalized content either provided by you or written by us.
  • Step Six: The site will be posted to a secure URL for view and testing.
  • Step Seven: If everything is good and dandy, it's TIME TO GO LIVE!

XHTML & CSS

The 1990's were a great decade for the advancement of technology. The World Wide Web was blooming and the internet popularity was growing to unimaginable portions. If you had a website then, you were way ahead of the game. It didn't matter how it was made, what kind of information was on it, or how fancy it was - It was on the web and it was AWESOME!

Today, if you don't have a website, you are an old-fashioned nobody living in the past before computers. Now it matters what information your site reveals due to internet monsters like Google and Yahoo! which can make your business flourish from zero to hero. Also, there are web standards which every website should be created by. Wonder why you don't see sites created back in the 1990's hitting top search results? Search Engines look for many things when searching for a site - web standards are a key ingredient. XHTML & CSS are part of those standards.

Search Engines look for many things when searching for a site - web standards are a key ingredient...We make sure everything that gets pushed to the web is web standards compliant.

You might be asking yourself what XHTML and CSS are. We could get into the boring specifics of everything but if you are like us, you would want to get to the point. Do yourself a favor and right click and "View Source". Look at the top. You can see that 'XHTML' is there. Basically, it is the code or the building blocks that browsers interpret to view the site correctly.

CSS or Cascading Style Sheets are the coolest thing ever. What they do is provide layout, styles, and colors for the page that it being applied to. This comes in handy when you want all the pages of a website to look the same. Just apply the stylesheet to the page and instant colors! No longer are styles formatted on the page directly. This is where functionality and design are separated. This is a good thing because putting both aspects together is annoying sometimes!

We make sure everything that gets pushed to the web is web standards compliant. If you need to check to see whether a site is compliant, go to the W3C Validator.

Web Browser Compatibility

There might be just one internet (for now), but that doesn't mean there is only one way to browse the internet. There are multiple web browsers that can be downloaded and used to view the web. That might be a good thing for people who like variety in viewing the web. For web designers, multiple web browsers might mean more work. See, different browsers might render code a little differently. That is why when you go to one site on one browser, it looks one way. When you go to another browser, it might have a slight or big difference.

Browser War!

We take browser compatibility seriously. We know this is important when creating a website because anybody could be using any browser at any time. When your website is not displaying right, it effects your business and we understand that.
